Lasongo Posted December 10 Posted December 10 (edited) Pacific Fleet just shared that the Mexican government has increased the park fees for Revillagigedo/Socorro Islands, effective on January 1, 2025. The new fees will be MXN$ 3.622 per person, per day, roughly USD$180 per person, per day. The prior fees were MXN$ 1.811 per person, per day, roughly USD$ 90 per person, per day. RomiK Posted December 10 Posted December 10 Whaaat?!!! Mexicans really don't like divers to visit! First they scam them at the airport and now this? So 5 days safari instead of $450 is now $900 extra? WOW! 1

But on a daily levy like the Revillagigedo NP's, this really stings... Edited December 11 by bghazzal 1
Muellema Posted December 11 Posted December 11 The next piece of the puzzle no longer going to Mexico/Socorro 2
Eric Hanauer Posted December 11 Posted December 11 If the money went to stop illegal fishing, it would be acceptable. But it’s most likely going into some well connected pockets. im glad I went when I did.
Sokrates Posted December 13 Posted December 13 (edited) Thats one way to "protect" the national park, make it too expensive to visit. Socorro is nice, but not worth 180USD per day in park fees on top of liveaboard. Even the old 90USD per day was on the steep side. Thank you Mexico, trips were fun but no more camera taxes and ridiculous park fees. Edited December 13 by Sokrates 4
