Does anyone know why Nauticam discontinued the A7SIII housing? I know the A7SIII will fit in the A1 housing with an adapter, so perhaps it was a decision made to cut down the number of product skus?

I'm currently looking at getting housing for my A7SIII and am wondering if there is any real difference between the two housing systems.

They are very similar. Both have the joystick and N100 port. The only clear difference that comes to my mind is that the A1 housing has an M24 port for HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 while the A7SIII housing has an M16 port which fits only HDMI 1.4.

Nauticam has probably decided to make fewer types of housings and now only sells the housing for the A1.

Have you tried to contact Nauticam USA or Backscatter?

On the why I expect it's to reduce the number of different housings they make, they have been trimming their port charts from discontinued lenses and dropping various adapters and ports as well. Possibly offering 3 different port systems (4 if you count the compacts) might be taking its toll.

You could also look to other vendors, Isotta is about $2k cheaper for the housing for example.

There was NA-A1 for sale on Facebook 2 days ago, but unfortunately its gone already, it was priced very attractively.
