I have come to an agreement with the camera overheating (filming in 4k/100p), but I still wanted to ask if there are any tips and tricks on how to get around the problem. I don't like the idea of simply bypassing the warning by changing the setting in the menu, as I find that the camera gets very hot and I'm afraid that it will be damaged in the medium term! As far as I understand, most of the heat comes from the screen! To what extent would an external monitor/external recording help? I look forward to your feedback!

Maybe, just try.

Actually I think the heat doesn't come from the screen in itself but the main heat sink lies behind the screen where there's the sensor. So, on land, opening the screen helps to dissipate the heat.

I assume you did MENU → (Setup) → [Power Setting Option] → [Auto Power OFF Temp.] and select [High]

Not to worry, no damage possible

Even then the camera produces a lot of heat at 4k100 and so trapped in housing in warm waters - like 28C+ - will cause it overheat.

Yes, using external monitor helps but there is tradeoff in terms of size and travel weight. Still totally worth to me.
