It's the only APS-C lens I kept when I changed to FF - couldn't bear to sell it!

How well does it cover a FF sensor? I'm still looking for a 50mm macro and tried out the Sony FF 50mm F2.8 macro at the SonyScene event last weekend - even on an A7RVI the autofocus was... unimpressive.

  • I own and use the Sony 30, Zeiss 50 and Sony 90, currently with my A6400.   I shop tested the Sony 50 when I first bought into Sony APS C (after many many years with Nikon) with an A6500. I

Hi Craine,   I originally owned the Zeiss 50mm M and 12mm F/2.8 Touit lenses back when my first Sony camera was the NEX-5 and then a move to NEX-7. At the time they for me were the best choi

  • Just seeing this thread, so a little late to the game.  I shoot a Zeiss 50mm on Sony a6600 body, and went through the same decision process.  I already own the Canon 60mm lens, but got bogged down in

Most likely I will end up buying a Nauticam MFO3 or Marelux MV60 because the Sony 50 macro focus is so bad. Then 2 months later Sony will release an updated 50mm macro with amazing autofocus.

OK well hurry up with your purchase then so as the new wizzbang 50mm macro is out by the Black Friday sales!😃

On my 6500 I called it my 'gentleman's lens'. Great result when it decided to focus!

Way faster on 6400.

90mm perhaps a tad faster on 6500, but too long for routine photos. Need good viz and a reason to use it.

Have you ever tried fitting the 50mm to your FF Sony to see what the sensor coverage is like?

Focus behavior of zeiss 50 on FF was a bit odd. Covers 1:1 square format OK (= approx 44 mpix of 61 mpix sensor). Sony 50 is a better solution for FF.
