Question on Nauticam EMWL setup
But Alex could probably pull off great shots with a milk bottle for a lens……

Underwater scooters and underwater photography
Really interesting question, Ido. My experience has been that the more I photograph underwater, the less distance I travel. I could see a use for a scooter when shore diving and the ability to get to a site using less finning energy would be good. But the downside is yet more gear to lug especially if using a largish camera system. Entry could be tricky too - I'm thinking somewhere like Bonaire. For boat dives, scooters can be a nuisance on a small boat and, quite often, you don’t actually need to travel far - or anywhere! - from the mooring to find subjects. Maybe a bit different if you are photographing wide-angle scenic, but for macro or general reef photography, I suspect a scooter would be more of a nuisance than an asset. Great fun though for zooming around with just a GoPro!

Your Favourite Photo Of 2023
Tremendous setup on this shot, Chris. Dive light at the rear? The diver balances the image out really well and produces a super piece of storytelling.

Manta Ray in Galapagos
Hi Stevie Yep, nice pic, well done! Suggestions for pictures like this tend to be counsels of perfection so… I might be tempted to lighten the shadows a little in the bottom right hand corner to help set the manta slightly more clearly in it’s environment. Then, and this is a major Counsel of Perfection, a diver in the background to help with the story telling. In that case the manta would need to be slightly more off-centre, say to the left, with the diver behind it, say to the right, balancing out the image. Yeah, in your dreams, right? It’s a memorable shot capturing a memorable moment. Nice!

Sales Tips and Outcomes
Selling your underwater camera equipment can be a tricky experience. What’s a realistic price? How low should you go? Will I ever find a buyer for gear I love? Is Prozac available over the counter? So what are your tips for selling your gear? Why not share your Trail of Tears with a soon to-be fellow sufferer? What percentage of the purchase cost did you get? Better than depreciation on a car? So many questions. Can you help with some answers?

Hmmmm, you should only need to make one post in the Introductions to then enable you to make posts. But you do need to make 3 posts to use the Classified thread. This is aimed at attempting to slow down folks so only join to sell gear.

RIP Paul Humann
Yep, agreed. The work he did was amazing and I'm sure many of us have got a few of his books and rely on them for IDs. A huge loss to the community.
