Just took a look today (08/19/26) to see if there were any updates on 7Artisans new AF fisheye lens in Sony FE, Nikon Z and L-mount on both B&H and Adorama's websites to find neither had the lens even listed. Very strange.

Doing a search on what happened to 7Artisans new 10mm f/2.8 autofocus Fisheye Lens?

 

The answer I got was that 7Artisans 10mm f/2.8 lens was not fisheye as it was first promised. Instead, it is an ultra-wide-angle rectilinear autofocus prime lens designed for APS-C mirrorless cameras (Sony E, Fujifilm X, and Nikon Z mounts) priced at around $199.

 

Once again we have been snookered.

The new 7Artisans full frame AF 10mm is an F/2.5 MAX fisheye lens. MAX seems to be a new line of high end lenses that have aperture rings, function buttons, weather sealing and more.

This is one of the worst lens rollouts I have seen in some time. No information released in English, no lens reviews found on Youtube in any language and no updates after being announced in China.

Further the lens in Sony FE, Nikon Z and L-mount was listed on B&H for close to three weeks with a notation that B&H was waiting for a price and release date so they could take pre-orders. Two days ago the lenses were removed from the Q and are no longer listed on the site. Not a good start after all the hype 7Artisans had gotten.

Maybe the photos are just cad rendering but they have 10mm 1:2.5 FISHEYE printed on them.

Poked around on their site and the 10mm fisheye link is still up in Chinese. Change the site to English and it vanishes but I did find this:

Looks like they are offering a 7.5mm f3.5 APS-C MF fisheye to influencers to review. Reported to have a 205° field of view.

I reckon it would be pretty amazing to visit a big photography trade show in China! I've been to a couple of trade shows in other fields in Shanghai and Beijing and they were totally amazing!

Christopher Frost is also worth viewing. Usefully he follows the same format for every review, and shows test charts separately for the centre and corners. If you open multiple browser windows, you can directly compare results for different lenses. However he doesn't measure field curvature - but then, who does?

Today 7Artisans has announced on its Facebook site that the AF 10mm F/2.5 MAX fisheye will be released on August 27/GMT+8 for $449.00USD. The post does not indicate if the lens will only be sold on the & artisans site or if it will be in online stores like B&H Photo.

Looking forward to you testing it Phil, and seeing if you can get good corners and no vignetting!

I can get one or the other, but not both, with the manual version, which is 185 degrees (140 dome, no shade).

This lens is now available in the online store for $449.00USD.

Christopher Frost has posted a Youtube review and states the corners are better from around F/2.8 to F/11 than the manual FF version he tested. No way to mount filters but overall not bad for the price.

Interesting lens, but the shade hood can't be removed. Is that going to be a problem in a housing?
ANd what about using it on an aps-c camera? ANy disadvatages. FOV will be smaller.

Less distortion should require a larger dome than a traditional fisheye correct?

The shade will likely conflict with inside a mini (100mm) dome, but should have zero issues with 140mm fisheye dome port. On a APS-C camera, your diagonal view with drop from 185 degrees down to around 120 degrees. So yes, your FOV will be smaller..

Size seems nearly the size of the m43 Olympus 8mm fisheye lens.
It could be interesting to know if it will be compatible with a 1.4 TC to have an alternative field of view...
