To be precise, this is actually Taiwanese OEM manufacturer Howshot (main distribution channel Divervision ) showing that their adaptor works with the Inon UFL-GR140 lens on the housing.

I agree with you that in this era of hardcore DIY, there will be someone printing gears and extensions for ports already on the market. I can already hear the sound of @Dave_Hicks printer 😃 Maybe ther

I absolutely agree with your analysis and I came to a similar conclusion. Due to the crop factor, we can forget the ILS version for wide angle (but the mission 1 pro will be interesting). I played a b

Are you sure? 🤣

Changed the link, I don't know from where I pasted it 😂

But on your response, is still the mistake 🤌

Hello. I follow Sean Elliot's YT channel. Full lenght review this weekend, I suppose he's always reliable

He says "The Mission 1 Pro has a lot to love but sadly the way they have set the focus for a more cinematic look above water has made it VERY difficult to use undewater. Everyone knows there is an issue with minimum focus but you cant fix that with lenses. The BIG issue is that it also has a very short maximum focus and once you put any of the current wide angle lenses on it makes it unuseable past a few metres and I have tried the AOI, Inon and Weefine." I'm speechless...

It is quite a problem. Action cameras have fixed focus and everything works perfectly because the sensor is tiny, but even with a one-inch sensor, issues start to appear and so manufacturers make compromises. The matter reminds me of what happened with the old Insta with the one-inch sensor years ago. YouTubers noticed that they couldn't take selfies at arm's length because with the one-inch sensor, the minimum focus distance had been set to about one meter. To solve the problem, someone even came up with the idea of adding a small lens attachment to allow focusing at less than one meter. Probably the design of the new GoPro lens creates problems for the wet lenses currently on the market, and who knows, maybe they will have to be redesigned specifically for this camera. Strange that the same thing doesn't happen with the old one-inch Insta360 too or maybe it's there but nobody notice it.

Here the old video:

Found the same reel, it's not a small problem for lens owners who wanted to upgrade the GoPro path, I'll paste the link for it for who want to see

Mission 1 lens test

I'm even happier now I choosed the L10 upgrade

In my opinion, when the 1 inch sensors were introduced, they should have also implemented an AF system into these small cameras. I wouldn't call them action cameras but small content creator cameras. Most of them are not used for sport anyway.

But at that point you have more compact capable cameras expressly made for content creators with proper af, microphone and I/Os

That's catch 22

I will stick to my small sensor GoPro

I got the Mission 1 Pro and the Inon lenses GR140 Pro and G165II.

As ZD connection, I went for the Howshot because, as we know, Inon didn't release yet its own front mask for the Mission 1. But the one from Howshot is well build and it will serve the purpose well, at least until Inon will produce its own, later in the year.

In two weeks, I am going to test the different setups but from what I've understood, the Mission 1 Pro seems to be very good without wet lenses, for the general shooting with underwater focus going from 50cm to 6m, which is the farthest you can go underwater anyway.

Instead, the wide wet lens bring the focus closer to 10cm stopping at around 2m, maybe 2,5m, which it could create a nice cinematic look also underwater, when swimming close to reef and/or fishes.

Since I am not into macro but close-up is the max I would go, I got the G165II but it seems I am the only one because I couldn't find anybody giving me a feedback on this lens. So I just have to wait two more weeks and see how this lens will perform with the Mission 1. I would expect to be somewhere in between a close-up and macro, considering what I heard about the Mission 1, so far.
