  1. The price was so good that I had gone on faith. Now, knowing the Nauticam prices for a new housing and knowing that I may not even be able to sell my GH5 Kit... I think I'll stay that way and maybe invest in a new monitor or new lights. We'll see.
  2. Three weeks ago I lost an incredible deal on a like new GH6 housing. The time I got a confirmation from Nauticam that iy would fit in the gh6 housing and it was gone...
  3. it's wrong to think badly of someone, but you're very often right 😉
  4. Superficial and distorted article to say the least. If this is journalism, I am John Wayne 😄
  5. I read a lot of Canon users wondering if it's a DGO sensor. Let's see when it will be available.
  6. After the last Panasonic presentation in which they used stock photos, the Gerald Undone drama (which later backfired) the R5 overheating scandal, when it comes to new cameras I don't even believe my mom anymore. 😆 To get some reliable feedback, I will wait for the camera to get into the hands of ordinary people. All influencers are unreliable if not corrupt. Canon's presentation and the various media outlets were so vague and contradictory that DPreview had to put a patch on it with this clarification. https://m.dpreview.com/articles/3364448295/canon-eos-r5-ii-for-photographers-what-you-need-to-know?slide=2 We await the clarification on the video section.
  7. Maybe @Aquatica could help us?
  8. Done already 😉
  9. Based on the lens + diopter you have a small focus range. For Nauticam there's a chart with the most common combinations.
  10. Hi Roman I am sorry that you had this experience with camera & scooter but its use it's completely different from what you describe. What you wrote happens for the reasons I wrote above. I assume that before carrying a camera on it, one is completely confident using the scooter. Although at first glance it may seem simple, its safe use is not trivial even in recreational diving. There are even courses to learn how to use it safely. In addition, there are different types of scooters, and as for camera mounts, there ar different models with different characteristics. No Gopros there. On the first photo I'm using a GH4 in Nauticam Housing, 6" dome and Keldan Luna 8 lights. On the second photo, a beloved Nauticam GH2 with two custom lights bigger than HF-1 strobes. Now I have a monitor too. Me and my friends use the camera (GH5, A7SIII, A6700, A7RIV) with scooter, lights and strobes nearly in all our dives. In the early 2000 we were using huge Amphibico Housings for shoulder mounter Sony camera on Gavin scooters. I drive the scooter with one finger and he goes just straight. When I leave the hand, it stays just in front of me. From the trash bin (wrong settings) last Sunday, my buddy filming @80m/262ft. For a limitless experience just use a detachable camera mount. The Suex camera mount permit to remove and reattach the camera underwater with a single lever push pull. This short documentary was 100% shot on scooter mounted cameras. We had no creative constraints in making it.

  13. Gentlemen, I moved all the last few posts since were no longer talking about the battery pack but about the grand schemes of life. You can continue the discussion there and leave this thread only for posts related to the battery pack. I trust in everyone's ability to respect the rules of peaceful digital community life https://waterpixels.net/forums/topic/1482-retra-strobes-pros-cons
  14. Do you have an example of bw critters and size you got with these lens? Thank you in advance
  15. Canon has officially announced the EOS R1, a 24MP Stacked CMOS sensor mirrorless camera designed for professional sports and photojournalism. Key Specifications: 24.2MP stacked CMOS sensor 100% AF coverage with cross-type sensors Up to 40fps blackout-free shooting (JPEG+Raw) Pre-capture for photo and video (1/2 sec. for photos, 3 or 5 sec. for video) Eye-controlled AF with enhanced eye detection Activity AF mode trained for specific sports Pre-registered person AF priority Blur/out-of-focus image detection In-camera processing with neural network noise reduction In-camera processing with AI upscaling 6K/60p internal Raw video capture DCI-4K capture up to 120fps Canon S-Log2 gamma profile The EOS R1 features a 24MP Stacked CMOS sensor that reads out nearly twice as fast as the existing R3. It can shoot stills at up to 40fps and capture 6K/60 Raw video internally. The Dual Pixel sensor has its sub-pixels rotated in alternate lines, providing cross-type autofocus across the entire sensor region. The "Digic Accelerator" co-processor allows it to handle complex algorithms developed through machine learning for various AI functions. Additionally, the EOS R1 boasts the largest, highest resolution, and brightest electronic viewfinder ever offered in an EOS camera, featuring 9.44 million dots and 0.9x magnification.
  16. Canon's EOS R5 Mark II is the company's latest high-end, full-frame mirrorless camera, now featuring a Stacked CMOS sensor and many autofocus capabilities from the flagship R1 model. It depends on what drink they used on the alcohol induced young female target group. Pure malt whisky is OK.
  18. Looking forward to see some test in Komodo then. Thanks
  19. Thank you Giancarlo, very informative.
  20. I see that there is a fair amount of interest in blackwater diving and thought it would be appropriate to open a thread dedicated exclusively to this specialty from a photographic point of view. What are the best lenses according to the size of the subjects? How best to use strobes? Besides strobes, what are the best support lights to help focus the camera and look for subjects wandering in the black water? Advice on logistics and the best locations/periods for this type of diving (this is a common topic with video makers). Some time ago our member @Giancarlo M. posted a nice article on using the Nauticam EMWL lens (the desire of many) in this particular context. I repost it here for reference.
  21. My friend's solution was more basic and cheap. His Subtronic strobes are an old model with integrated battery pack. The guy just moved the front slave sensor to the back behind the rear plate and glued a small plastic tube for fiber connector. But the most economical solution was to place adhesive fibre adapters on the front slave sensor. I repeat, I know nothing about underwater photography and flashes but he says it works perfectly 😇
  22. Yes, I remember that thread on WP...
  23. Very interesting ideas. You photographers are lucky that by adjusting the shutter speed you can vary the background. Unfortunately on video it is not so easy and in a few metres of water, even with a snoot, you have little margin to intervene. Maybe I should bring along a black background and set up a small stage. 🤡
